The map below shows the base conditions for my zones 2-4. I didn’t bother to label any of the vegetation, but all of the small circles are intentionally planted trees, while the large ovals and the edge buffers are mostly overgrown combinations of Chinese tallow, Chinese privet and wild blackberry canes. Embedded within are old barbed wire fences that need to be cleared out. To get my vision of zones 2, 3 and 4, the fencelines will have to go, at least in some places. That’s why I started with this map. This is what we’re working with and it’s going to take quite a bit of work to get it the way I want it. Zone 1 was easy because what we have now is all part of the design. Zone 2 and beyond is where all the harder work comes in. We have a lot of things to consider here so I’ll be going over zone 2 for the rest of the week, and then begin with zone 3 and 4.
